This is a fun coloring book with lots of interesting images. It might be more correctly referred to as manga as anime generally means that there is a cartoon animation associated with the book. Manga is a whimsical drawing or comic. As far as I can tell, there are no cartoons with this book but, to a degree, for the coloring world, this is probably pretty much a nit issue.What is more interesting about this book is that rather than giving us a second copy of each image (something that the publisher Jade Summer does with their books), in this case, the second image actually has some finer details added to the face. Particularly to the nose and mouth of the character studies. It is amazing the difference it can add. My video will show all images but I have only included both photos of one image to show the difference. The rest of the images are of the more simple style.The designs are really cute with lots of detail. They are not intricate or hard to color. For fans of this style (which I am), it is a really fun book. The boys and girls (younger and older teenagers rather than the children in the Chibi books by this imprint) look like they are having a lot of fun just being kids.You can receive a digital download of the book as part of the purchase of the print copy (instructions in the book). While printing those copies is a great plus, I will be reviewing (and videoing and photo images) from the print copy.This is what I found in this coloring book:While there are 25 unique designs in the book, because of the changes to the second copy (see above), you can have fun coloring all 50 pages along with a couple of bonus pages from other booksPrinted one side of the pagePaper is typical inexpensive quality by CreateSpace printing: white (with black printed on the back of each page), thin, slightly rough and non-perforated.The designs do not merge into the binding. There is a thick framing line on each of the design pages,There are is a thumbprint index of all images at the front of the book.Glue BindingCreate Space Paper/Media QualityWhile the back of the is printed black to show less bleed through, be aware that there is bleed through and protect your work. I like to use a blotter when working in this type of book. I use a page of card stock or several sheets of heavyweight paper under my working page. It keeps seeping ink and marring dents from ruining the pages below.Alcohol-based markers bleed through the page quickly.Water-based markers bleed through in spots.Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows on back of the page. India ink can bleed through if you apply heavily or multiple coats.Coloring Pencils work fairly well with this publisher’s paper provided you don’t press extremely hard while coloring. I find that I can layers the same color for deeper pigment or multiple colors and blended easily with a pencil style blending stick. This is true of both oil and wax based pencils. I have also found that hard lead pencils leave dents through the paper.
